Mediation

FINALLY!! Things have gotten settled. As some may know, during our Christmas fiasco over 'who gets Boston', I hired a lawyer. I got everything done on my end and then some. Mediation was on Tuesday, January 31st. Most nerve racking day of my life!

Yes, I know Jon didn't stand a chance. Yet, you never know. And the slightest 'never know' had my mind reeling! "What if?!"

Well, luckily there was no "what if". I didn't ask for anything outrageous, anything unnecessary, anything that benefitted ME more than it would Boston. It is ALL for Boston. His well being is the #1 priority in my life.

The mediator met with my lawyer and me first. Lawyer and I? (Whatever, I'm sure my mom will correct me sooner or later on that). Separate rooms, Thank God!! Anyway, I started with my story and everything that has or hasn't happened. He seemed a little..."WTF? I hope this guy doesn't think he's going to get anything he wants out of this deal because he's obviously stupid"...So, we discussed what we (my lawyer and I) wanted and he then took that to Jon. Jon was very agreeable. Which, for him, is very strange.

I knew it wouldn't last...

After a little more discussion on specifics my lawyer wrote up the key points for us to sign. The mediator then took it over to Jon and his lawyer for review before they signed.

This is where the shit hit the fan...

Surprise, surprise...

Jon didn't get upset about the amount of time he was getting with his kid. He didn't get upset about the specifics. He didn't really even get upset about the amount of child support he'd have to pay (no use arguing its a mathematical equation you can't get around)...no he got upset because I get to claim B on this years taxes. Now, mind you...after this year we're going to do every other (if payments are made on his part). So, its not like he wasn't getting it at all....he just wasn't getting THIS YEAR.

That. That above all else is what threw him into a tizzy. We were in separate rooms and I could just see the entire conversation taking place. The mediator thought it was ridiculous (which I thought was funny). My lawyer got more upset about it then I did too. Even Jon's lawyer was questioning why he thought he should get it. Eventually he signed it...

Then stormed out...
(According to the mediator, who also called him a nut as my lawyer and I left)

I haven't heard from him since...

Darn.
