I Am Sam: 65 Roses

Back in March after reading a lot of different things about the new drugs they were coming out with for Cystic Fibrosis I decided that I was going to help raise money. My way of doing it was a lil extreme but, I decided that if I raised $10,000 I would shave my head. My sister Holly did this two years ago. We scheduled it for Friday the 13th of May. For the longest time it seemed just $5,000 was unattainable but as the days got closer we started getting more and more donations. I told Susie that because we were so far from $10,000 that I would still shave my head at $5,000. Well, we got there. So, Friday we had a big shindig at Miss Kitty's and people donated even more money to be the first to cut my hair or be the first to shave my head.

When Holly did this two years ago her best friend Brendan gladly threw down $300 just to be the first one to shave her head. Unfortunately, he was in a car accident last December and i no longer with us. Holly has been having an extremely hard time dealing with his passing and it has been hard for all of us to see her in so much pain. In memory of Brendan Holly was the first to shave my head. In this picture Susie was giving the explanation and introduction and not a single person who knew him had a dry eye. It breaks my heart every time I see this but its so real and so personal that I love it...
