Two posts in a row! Go me!
So, before the wedding and honeymoon Scott and I had gotten this pamphlet in the mail from Dodge. It has pictures of the 2015 Challenger and 2015 Charger Scat Pack. I didn't really know anything about either of these cars and just held it up and said "This is one sexy pamphlet!". Scott agreed and said "Ya know, I wouldn't be opposed to trading your car in for a new Charger". I had a 2014 Dodge Dart. Perfect little car for me...but when your soon to be husband offers to help buy a car like THAT. I had to play down my excitement.
The next day at work I was busy looking for what I wanted. Long story short we agreed to get the Scat Pack, inquired with Dewey, they said they had two coming in and they'd be there at the end of the month (this was early April). We agreed to put a deposit down and wait.
This is where it got weird...they told us, since it was later in the day, that their account person wasn't there to take the deposit and that they'd just call it good. This didn't sit well with me so I went in the next day and paid it. When doing the paperwork the "invoice" didn't have a vin number or date of arrival. I signed it all but was still uneasy about the lack of information. I inquired with the dealer through email and he provided the invoice that was for a 392 SRT. Not a bad car but more money and not the one we'd agreed upon. So I inquired again. he tried to assure me that nothing was wrong and that it'd be here mid-May. Mid May?! You told me end of April?! Well, those dates are just approximate he says...BS. I get worked up of course but by this time I was concentrating on the wedding and honeymoon. On our way back from the honeymoon I email again to check on the arrival of my car. At which time I was told "another month" (JUNE!!!!) This irritated me to no end so I told the guy we'd be in the next day to get our deposit because we weren't waiting any longer. He let us know that that was fine, but that the time frame was not within their control. Blah, Blah Blah. THEN he said "We do have the 392 SRT sitting in the show room if you're interested. I told him to send me the sticker. He did and it was all the same options, same price, with a moonroof!! I told him it was SOLD and that we'd be in in the morning to get it.
And we did...
Funny story to add to this though...
On the way back we flew from the Bahamas to D.C. where there were delays due to a plane show of some sort and one plane had hit a bird. Instead of moving that plane to a different place until they fixed it, they had to make all other flights snowball. From D.C we went to Chicago. Well, because of the delays we were really cutting it close to missing our flight. THEN we sat on the stinking runway for probably 45 minutes for God knows why...inevitably missing our connecting flight to Des Moines. We'd looked up later flights on our phones while we were waiting and once we got off we got...NO HELP to rebook. Not a single person gave two shits that we were unable to get a flight out to get home. They literally did. not. care. It was horrible. So, we decided that we were NOT going to spend the night in Chicago, instead we'd rent a car and drive because we just wanted to get home. (this was between 11-midnight Friday, mind you). So after a huge fight between us and Scott walking away from me in the middle of O'HARE AIRPORT (he got in trouble, believe you me). We were able to get a bus to a rental terminal, got our car and headed home. Ended up getting home about 3AM. Ok, so that wasn't all that funny but...it is now...
My dad ended up keeping Boston overnight again because of this and then dropped him off about 8:30AM with a flower for Mommy :) My dad thinks of everything. I was so excited to see Boston and soooooo glad to be home!!
We headed to Dewey and bought my badass car! :)
I'm spoiled. He loves me a little bit....

So the moral to this story is.....you like to have instant gratification!
ReplyDeleteHaha! We just didn't trust Dewey...they've been known to sell cars out from under people when they've already put the deposit down.
